A Civil Workplace: Managing rudeness in the workplace in order to increase productivity and employee retention. Rudeness destroys morale. Low morale increases employee turnover while reducing productivity. Today’s course will address how leaders (official leaders or otherwise) can put an end to rudeness in the workplace before and after it start.
We will review the definitions of civil and uncivil behavior as well as the difference between bullying and harassment. We will take a deep dive into using corporate values to hold people accountable for their behavior. Finally we will discuss why this maters: the cost of low morale and turnover vs the benefits of a civil workplace.
Be the change you want to see in your work environment. Life is stressful enough, work should not be an excess amount of stress due to rudeness and uncivil behavior.
