Overview
The Anti-Kickback Statute (AKS) remains one of the government's main tools for policing healthcare fraud and abuse. This 60-minute Anti-Kickback Statute webinar looks at recent cases and enforcement actions brought by the HHS Office of Inspector General (OIG) and its law enforcement partners.
After a short review of the AKS itself, the session covers the safe harbors, with a focus on the safe harbor for coordinated care and associated value-based arrangements. It also reviews recent OIG Advisory Opinions and relevant court cases, so you can see how the OIG and the courts view AKS compliance and how violations are handled.
Why attend: Many practices that are routine in other industries are crimes under federal healthcare fraud and abuse laws. Together with Stark II, the federal physician anti-referral law, the AKS is also used as a basis for actions under the False Claims Act. This webinar is for hospital executives, physicians, practice managers and other provider executives who take part in and receive payment from Medicare, Medicaid and programs such as TriCare. You'll learn the elements of the AKS and the exceptions and safe harbors you can rely on.
